General Print To Disk in Windows 95/98/2000/NT
This
procedure will support most Windows 95/98/2000/NT programs.
Step
1: Make sure a Postscript Printer driver
is installed. Please follow the instructions for Steps to Install a Postscript
Printer on a Windows 95/98/2000/NT computer to assure the proper driver is
installed.
Step
2: Print a hard copy of your document on
your printer. Your printer will use this as a reference tool.
Step
3: Refer to your application user manual
for any special instructions. The Print To Disk option may be found in the
Print dialogue box in some software applications. The following instructions
will work with most applications.
Step
4: Click on Print... under File or use
keyboard command of Ctrl+P.
Step
5: In Print dialog window, select the
Postscript Printer on FILE:.
Step
6: If necessary, go to Properties and
make changes in paper size, orientation, layout, etc.
Step
7: Select Print To File on the right
hand side of the page under Properties. Select the page range and the number
of copies if necessary.
Step
8: Select OK. A new window will appear.
At this point, you will name the file and select the directory or disk where
the file is to be saved. Be sure to give the file the extension .PS when it is
named. As you name the file, you have the ability to create the path to put
the file in a directory or onto a floppy disk.
Step
9: Select OK. The Postscript file will
print to disk.
General Print To Disk in Windows 3.1
This
procedure will support most Windows programs.
Step
1: Make sure a Postscript Printer driver
is installed. Please follow the instructions for Steps to Install a Postscript
Printer on a Windows Computer to assure the proper driver is installed.
Step
2: Print a hard copy of your document on
your printer. Your printer will use this as a reference tool.
Step
3: Refer to your application user manual
for any special instructions. The Print To Disk option may be found in the
Print dialogue box in some software applications. The following instructions
will work with most applications.
Step
4: Click on Printer Setup under File.
Step
5: In Printer Setup, select the
Postscript Printer on FILE:. Go to Setup.
Step
6: The Setup window will identify the
Postscript printer selected. Select the proper Orientation and number of
copies. Select Options.
Step
7: In the Options window, select Printer
under Print To.
Step
8: Select OK until you return to the
document.
Step
9: From File, select Print. You should
see that the Printer selected is the Postscript Printer on File:.
Step
10: Select OK. A dialogue box entitled
Print To File will appear. It will ask you to give the file an Output File
Name.
Step
11: Name the file and be sure to give
the file the extension .PS. As you name the file, you have the ability to
create the path to put the file in a directory or onto a floppy disk.
Step
12: Select OK. The Postscript file will
print to disk.
Print To Disk Instructions for Pagemaker in Windows 95/98/2000/NT
Step
1: Make sure a Postscript Printer driver
is installed. Please follow the instructions for Steps to Install a Postscript
Printer on a Windows Computer to assure the proper driver is installed.
Step
2: Create your document in Pagemaker.
Print a copy of your document on your printer. Your printer will use this as a
reference tool.
Step
3: Go to Document Setup under File.
Step
4: In Document Setup, select a
Postscript Printer Driver in the Compose to Printer box. Click OK.
Step
5: Go to Print under File. In Print To
box select the same Postscript Printer Driver that you selected in Page Setup.
Step
6: Select Options.
Step
7: In the Options window, select Write
Postscript to file. The Print button becomes a Save button.
Step
8: Name the file, select the Directory
or disk where the file is to be placed and include the .PS extension.
Step
9: Select Normal and Include
downloadable fonts.
Step
10: Click on the Print button. The file
will save to the directory or file selected.
Print To Disk Instructions for QuarkXpress 4.x for Windows 95/98/2000/NT
Step
1: Make sure a Postscript Printer driver
is installed. Please follow the instructions for Steps to Install a Postscript
Printer on a Windows 95/98/2000/NT computer to assure the proper driver is
installed.
Step
2: Create a QuarkXpress document.
Step
3: Print a copy of your document on your
printer. Your printer will use this as a reference tool.
Step
4: Click on Print... under File or use
keyboard command of Ctrl+P.
Step
5: From the Printer pop-up menu, select
the Postscript Printer.
Step
6: In the Setup tab, select the correct
PPD from the Printer Description pop-up menu.
Step
7: Select the desired print options.
Step
8: Click Print.
Step
9: In the Print to File window, select a
location to save the file and enter a file name. (You may want to change the
extension from .prn to .ps if you are saving a Postscript file.)
Step
10: Then, click OK.
Print To Disk Instructions for QuarkXpress 3.x for Windows 95/98/2000/NT
Step

Step
1: Make sure a Postscript Printer driver
is installed. Please follow the instructions for Steps to Install a Postscript
Printer on a Windows 95/98/2000/NT computer to assure the proper driver is
installed.
Step
2: Create a Publisher document.
Step
3: Under File, choose Outside Print
Setup. The first Outside Print Setup box appears.
Step
4: Choose one of three color options:
black-and-white, full-color, spot-color printing. If spot-color printing is
the option picked, select one or two spot colors from the drop-down list
boxes.
Step
5: Click on Next to go to the next
window.
Step
6: Select either Publisher’s generic
outside printer driver or the specific driver given to you by your printer.
Click Next.
Step
7: Indicate whether or not you want crop
marks, registration marks, etc. If printer marks are select, also check “Automatically
choose ‘Extra’ page size.”
Step
8: Access Help Hint area for
step-by-step instructions for communicating with an outside printer.
Step
9: Click Done.
Step
10: Under File, choose Print to Outside
Printer.
Step
11: Select the appropriate options,
indicating the number of pages, include printer marks, allow bleeds, etc.
Step
12: Select Print To File on the right
hand side of the page under Properties. Select the page range and the number
of copies if necessary.
Step
13: Select OK. A new window will appear.
At this point, you will name the file and select the directory or disk where
the file is to be saved. Be sure to give the file the extension .PS when it is
named. As you name the file, you have the ability to create the path to put
the file in a directory or onto a floppy disk.
Step
14: Select OK. The Postscript file will
print to disk.

15: When the file has been printed to
the proper folder, you will be prompted to print a final proof and infosheet.
Click Yes to print these documents and submit them with the file to your
printer.
